Fat ass guinea pig - good eats?
Posted (six) on February-7-2008 Read More

Sick pets - Seven months ago a friend of mine brought my kid a pet, a guinea pig. I knew little about the furry rodent, said thanks, and gave my 8 year old the responsibility of caring for guinea pig.

fat-guinea-pig.JPGThat did not work out well. Within a few days of having her furriness in custody, he stepped on her once, and got her head trapped in a hole for 12 hours almost killing her. What he did was leave her food on the other side of a small round hole on the side of her cage. What the guinea pig did was squeeze her big head through a small hole (not sure how) to get at the food. Guinea head went in, but could not come back out.

She was trapped, her head was on one side, body on the other. In her struggle to free herself, she tore up her neck on the sharp plastic edge of the hole. My kid was frantic. We could not get her out without killing her and the pressure of her neck on the plastic was cutting into her with every move. My kid held her head up for 10 hours with his hands as I tried to figure out what to do.

I called vets, all of them within 20 miles. Every one said that they do not treat rodents, nor did the fire department. We tried filing the plastic, but that did not work either. We could not cut the hole because she was in so tight there was no room to insert tools.long hair guinea pig

Finally, we coated her in vaseline and used wire cutters to slowly cut away some plastic and metal to be able to pull her free. My poor kid thought her head would pop off as we pulled her out. But, she made it with a few bruises and a broken toe.

After that, we slowly let her roam around, get acquainted. She was terrified and guinea-pigpreview.jpgnon-trusting for months, but she warmed up to everyone and became a part of the family.

The little, fuzzy rodent surprised us all. As a pet she as as smart as a dog and as temperamental as a cat. She knows her name and comes when called. She greats us at the door when we come home. She talks or “squeeks” on command, begs for apples, and scares the piss out of strangers.

When strangers walk in a home, they normally pet the dog that comes out, with a guinea pig, these fools jump when a fuzzy rodent with big teeth runs at them. No one is used to a free roaming guinea pig I guess..

Fuzzy guinea is now fat ass guinea, no one can resist her begging and I can’t even imagine looking her in a cage anymore no matter how much work it is to pick up the “guinea pellets”.

Knowing my fat ass guinea as well as I do, I just can’t imagine roasting her up for dinner… but in Peru, she would be a prime meal.

Yep, guinea pig is considered good eats in parts of the world. I sure the hell can’t see why. I mean… They have little meat, look very unappetizing and have a huge amount of fur to remove… hell, they are like 50% fur I think. Once the fur is gone, there may not be much left o even use as an after dinner toothpick.

Just sick shit - roasted guinea pig on a stick? or it looks that way. Stiff ass guinea for sure,

Hey, take off the fur and make it into a hat or some shit, that looks gross.

First and foremost, it is called a guinea PIG for a reason. It was originally introduced to North America from Peru and Bolivia as a FOOD SOURCE because they are easy to care for and have a large feed to meat ratio, and reproduce quickly. It was common as recently as a hundred and fifty years ago for them to be a staple of urban diet in not only North America, but also much of Europe. And yes, they are delicious, and nutritious.

Sick Idiots! Guinea Pigs have feelings too, they should have rights against idiotic humans trying to be dominant figure in the food chain and eat them for absolutely no reason and they should have the right to not be taken into bloody labs and best tested on in the most vulgar ways! They should NEVER eaten as this world is spinning…it’s not right and its sick! Every Guinea Pig breathes and every Guinea Pig feels pain…why are we causing pain and torture to things that we should actually be looked after and cared for! How dare WE as a spieces eat them, it’s disgusting and make our spieces look pathetic!

PS…sorry for my grammar and spelling mistakes, but this has angered me very much!

@ DAVIE
HAHAHAHAHAAH YOU sound like an idiot man. Your logic makes no sense. Then why would we eat a pig or a cow? if they also feel pain. Ive never tried it and Im from Peru. Doesnt really catch my attention, but what is the difference between eating a ginea pig or a rabit? they are both rodents..

These were raised for food long before people kept them as pets. Just because you decided to keep another culture’s food as a pet, doesn’t mean that culture has to stop eating it, or that it’s “sick”. Just as we don’t stop eating cows just because Hindus hold them as being sacred, and we don’t consider it something “sick”.

Time to grow up, folks. Just because you think it’s cute, doesn’t mean it isn’t food somewhere else in the world, and it doesn’t mean that’s wrong, either.
