Bone Chapel at Sedlec Ossuary
The Sedlec Ossuary in the Czech Republic is a church where the alters, chandaliers, bells and even the coat of ar,ms is all made of human bone. Kinda sick and Bizarre, but it seems that the art is made of 40,000 dead, the skulls and skeletons from many centuries of war and plague victims. The Church of Human bones was created in 1511 by a half-blind monk who was responsible for gathering all the bones of the black death victims and added to the dead from the 15th century Hussite Wars. A wood carver, Frantisek Rint was employed to compose the collected bones into works of art. He created the alters, chandelier, bells and the family who employed him, The Schwarzenberg family, Coat of arms. Popularity: 14%
